ROYAL CANADIAN AIR CADETS IN RICHMOND HILL

The Royal Canadian Air Cadet program is one of the largest national youth programs in Canada, where youth can learn valuable life and work skills such as leadership, citizenship, and teamwork by actively participating in and contributing to their communities

The program is supported by the Air Cadet League of Canada in collaboration with the Department of National Defence and other community partners, who are dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program.

8 GLOBEMASTER AIR CADETS

On November 1, 2012, 8 Globemaster Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (RCACS) was born in Richmond Hill. Our inaugural Commanding Officer (CO) was Major Wayne Wayne Westernacher-Schneider with about 70 cadets; the next COs were Major Ryan Schwarz and Major Paul Yu. Our present CO is Captain Herman Li. Our squadron has well over 250 cadets now!

Under the leadership of the COs, the supportive staffs and the assistance from Squadron Sponsor Committee (SSC), 8 Globemaster Squadron continues to provide high quality training programs and activities to our cadets. Some of our goals are helping cadets to achieve personal growth, become a good citizen as well as a great leader.

Some of the activities we do include: Band, Drill, Biathlon, Marksmanship, Glider Pilot Training, Power Pilot Training, Sports, Effective Speaking, Debate, Rocketry, Drone, First Aid, and Health & Wellness.

In the summer, Cadets are provided opportunity to go on summer training. Please check the Summer Training 2024 (one of the announcements) for reference.
